There was tension in Izom town, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State when a petrol-laden tanker fell and exploded.
Details of the incident were sketchy as of the time of filing this report but Sources said the incident happened around 8:00pm.
The driver reportedly lost control of the truck while trying to dodge a pothole at the centre of the road.
Mohammed Adamu, a resident, told Daily Trust that as of 8:30pm, fire fighters were making efforts to contain the raging inferno.
“No life was lost but our fear is that there are residential houses close to the place. We are afraid because fire service are doing their best but the fire is still ragging “, he said.
He said the incident has caused gridlock on both sides of the road.
When contacted, the Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Abdullahi Baba Arah said he was yet to receive information about the incident.
